Validating Seating Outcomes from Assessment to Prescription
A mobility and seating assessment is the foundation of best outcomes when prescribing complex assistive technology solutions. We know the ideal assessment includes a MAT assessment, but often we face challenges in completing a full MAT with every client. What components of the MAT are essential and what do they tell us about our client’s postural needs? By understanding the ROM and biomechanical needs of our clients we can identify and recommend positioning and supports to maximise function. This includes the integration of clinical findings and seating principles to identify points of control and optimal position in space.
This workshop will cover the essential information we need to determine at the initial assessment. This practical session will enable attendees to get hands-on and practice identifying potential positioning and taking measurements. We will then work through the clinical reasoning process in a systematic approach and identify the product parameters required to meet the identified needs. The day will conclude with attendees getting hands-on with various seating options supplied by Aidacare and setting up potential seating options based on clinical case studies.
