In this webinar, Home Modifications expert Liz Ainsworth will unpack what contemporary, high-quality home modification practice really looks like, from the first assessment through to implementation. She will explore how OTs can work effectively with equipment and home modification product suppliers, building services professionals, support workers, and manual handling professionals to create solutions that are safe, functional, sustainable, and genuinely responsive to the person and their context.
Liz will also look at how technology is changing the way OTs assess, communicate, create and deliver home modification recommendations, creating opportunities for more innovative and precise practice. Aidacare Chief Product Officer David Owen will also share his insights on the recent innovations in Assistive Technology that is relevant to Home Modifications, with opportunities for you to ask questions during the Q&A session.

Liz holds two Master’s degrees in Occupational Therapy, postgraduate qualifications in home modification practice, and a Diploma in Access Consulting. She is also co-editor of the international textbook An Occupational Therapist’s Guide to Home Modification Practice, now in its second edition with Taylor & Francis.
An invited speaker in Australia, Canada and the UK, Liz is passionate about challenging the idea that home modifications are simply about equipment, ramps and rails. She believes great home modification practice is complex, creative, and deeply occupation-focused—and that Australian OTs have much to contribute to the international conversation.
In this webinar, Liz will share practical insights from more than three decades in the field, explore what genuinely good practice looks like, and challenge you to think differently about clinical reasoning, collaboration, technology, and the lived experience of the people whose homes we modify.
