Picking the Right Manual Wheelchair Frame, with a Touch of Tool Time

Manual Wheelchair Selection and Adjustments

In this course, we will look through the different types of wheelchairs, from basic chair through to more complex wheelchairs and how to select the correct frame based on your client’s needs. We will explore how to measure and configure these chairs to maximise potential and minimise risk.

We will explore different setups and how they affect propulsion, comfort and client function.

We will then have an opportunity to get on the tools and see how some little adjustments can make a huge difference.

Don’t be afraid to make some mistakes, this is the perfect opportunity to learn how to fix them.

Mitchell comes from a trade background before acquiring a spinal injury in October 2010; since then he has been a manual wheelchair user. Mitch also plays Wheelchair Basketball and Wheelchair Rugby League, representing his country in both sports.

Prior to joining Sunrise Medical, Mitch worked for an equipment supplier in Sydney providing advice and prescription services for clients seeking lightweight active manual wheelchairs. . Mitch joined the Sunrise Clinical Hub Team in 2020 as a Product Specialist in our High End Manual wheelchair and RGK portfolios. He assists both clients and suppliers throughout Australia ensuring a client’s wheelchair is designed to best suit individual and environments needs.
