Morning Session: Tool Time – Manual and Power Wheelchairs
Don’t let the lack of confidence prevent you from making changes to your client’s wheelchair ever again.
During Tool Time, we’ll show you how to make adjustments to back heights and angles, change armrest position and leg rest lengths. We’ll have a go at changing wheel position on manual wheelchairs. We’ll also adjust and modify Jay backrests to improve posture and function.
You’ll have the opportunity to feel how these modifications effect posture and function first-hand.

Afternoon Session: Getting the Most from Postural Management Equipment in the Paediatric Population
This course will enable participants to gain awareness of the relationship between posture and function, building an understanding of how appropriate use of postural management equipment including seating systems and standing/walking frames, can positively influence engagement in tasks and overall comfort.
Objectives:
1. The power of 24-hour posture support.
2. Postural management of paediatric clients while considering growth, ease of use and participation.
3. The maximization of health, posture and function for paediatric clients.

Trained as a Physical Therapist in the United States, Amy has over 20 years’ experience working with the adult and paediatric neurologic populations, with specialties in the treatment of spinal cord injury, and evaluation and provision of assistive technology for clients with physical challenges. She was the director of the Seating and Mobility Clinic in Boston, MA USA and provided consultation services to the United Cerebral Palsy Foundation.
Amy focuses on providing sound solutions that create positive results, even in challenging environments. She consistently implements innovative ideas focused on improving the lives of people with disabilities.
