Wheelchair Seating Simplified + Shaperator
This interactive and beginner level workshop will assist therapists new to wheelchair seating build confidence and foundational knowledge in supporting and positioning people with asymmetrical postural presentations in the community.
This full day workshop will focus on the wheelchair assessment process and foundational wheelchair seating concepts. By the end of the day, you will understand common internal and external factors causing seating presentations such as posterior pelvic tilt, pelvic obliquity, pelvic rotation and kyphosis. Intervention strategies will be identified and shown with real life product demonstration.
The final session will give attendees the opportunity to apply the theory learnt throughout the day to a case study and the chance to work in a team to set up a wheelchair seating system using the supplied equipment.
Learning objectives:
• The wheelchair assessment process
• Foundations of posture and exposure to common postural deviations
• Practical strategies to accommodate and / or reduce postural deviations.
• Hands on opportunity with Spex Seating products.
